FIELDTRIP2002
(THE FOURTH DECADENAL FIELD TRIP)
HELD AT JOHN SWAN'S

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24, 2002

It was a beauty. We can thank Sven the Ranger for kicking us out of the park. Swan's was perfect. Great weather. Great people. Great music. And the neighbor opened his yard for parking which meant cars were close to the site. Outta sight. There were skypilots galore. Turned into a skypilotclub meeting with new members signing up and T shirts being sold and the skypilot rocket shooting all over the place.

THE SKYPILOTS PLAYED AND SANG

CROWD PLEASERS AND CROWD PLEASED

******

YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE . . .

*********

HUH? WHA? WHO, US?

*******

YES, YOU, US, LISTEN AND LAUGH

******

All the way from Germany came a camera crew, filming in 16MM, documenting the whole experience, who knows, maybe to show on MTV, fieldtrip2002, the skypilots unplugged.

What? You're asking me what's happening here? The fourth decadenal field trip is what's happening. You want to know what has gone on the past forty years? We've gone to the dogs is what's happened. It's a dog eat dog world. Frozen dog at that. Aw gorsh, good old granny. Well what you gonna do? At this point all you can do is blast. Blastush Smashus. Begorgious and begasious. What's that mean? That's German for groove on. Hey, it's time for the David Nelson Band.

******

There's Dave Nelson on the left and Bill the bass player on the right. Their keyboardest wasn't going to be able to make it but Swan had him flown in from the east coast in time for the show. Much surprise and merriment all around. Smile, Dave.

******

That's Mookie with the glasses, looking a bit jet lagged, but there is nothing lagging on that keyboard. Barry on the right is pleased as pie, blueberry pie, blissed out.

******

When not playing in the skypilots, Simon runs the sound system. Not looking too bad for being a new dad; while on the right his dad is busy signing memorablia.

Here you go, Holly, and as for the guy waiting in wings, he wants a T shirt but turns out he only has two bucks but he thought they were free. Yeah, free to the skypilots, the members of the band. Oh hell, take the shirt for two bucks. Suckered again.
